The Sydney branch of Muslim Collective running our first Qur'an Discussion Circle of 2018. In these circles, we seek to gain a deeper understanding of Islam and the way it is interpreted today through critical engagement with the text.
In this circle, we will examine verses dealing with animal welfare and the tensions that have arisen due to the rapidly growing halal meat industry.
NOTE: This is not a "teaching/sermon" event - there are numerous events in other communities that focus on that. Our objective here is a discussion for our individualised understanding of the Qur'an, based on our own knowledge and perhaps incorporating others' perspectives.
HOUSE RULES : The discussion will be held in an office. Please respect the space, and if you're borrowing chairs and stationery, return things back where you found them.
RSVP via Meetup would be appreciated, but is not mandatory. Alternatively, please contact the event organizer.
